The only problem with PyScripter is that I could not figure out how to make it “see” Arcpy so that I could have code-completion. It is possible to get temporary admin rights to install applications but it is a pain. This is important because I work in an environment where my desktop computer is locked down (ie no admin rights). It was fast and it had a portable version that I could install on my USB drive. I found PyScripter a few months ago and liked it. I really like notepad++ but I could not figure out how to get the code completion to work for Arcpy. I started out with IDLE but after my experience with JavaScript last year I wanted an IDE with a little bit more to it. I’ve been spending more time with python recently and specifically Arcpy.
